CYCLONE VIDEO UPDATE
FEBRUARY 18TH 2013
We look at the potential for twin systems to form off Western Australia over the next 10 days with one system possibly affecting the mainland.
We also take a look at the fast moving MJO
and we briefly touch on the movement of the SE Qld LOW pressure system
Finally we take a brief extended range look ahead towards a possible development in the Gulf Of Carpentaria or far Western Coral Sea in a couple of weeks time.

CYCLONE VIDEO UPDATE
FEBRUARY 19TH 2013
Batten down the hatches WA, a big one is coming... We take a look at the early model guidance and where the next cyclone will be likely to head.
We briefly examine the MJO and the likely impacts over Australia as well as a look at the Sea Surface Temps.
It is still too early to look in depth at the steering levels in play so we will wait until Thursday's update before we do that.
Also check out the latest ABC North-West interview with the Bureau's Andrew Burton for more details on this upcoming beast of a system. www.abc.net.au/local/audio/2013/02/19/3693892.htm Oz Cyclone Chasers also have an interview airing with ABC North-West tomorrow morning abolut this system.
Begin your preparations now and avoid the panic buying next week. We'll have another chat to you on Thursday night in our next video.
Coral Sea is all clear as is the Gulf for the time being, the Gulf should begin to fire in a couple of weeks and the Coral Sea soon afterwards.
Thanks for watching folks and please help spread the word about who we are and what we do. If you know of a business that may be willing to sponsor us or advertise with us on our website or on our videos, please let us know so we can contact them.

CYCLONE VIDEO UPDATE
FEBRUARY 21ST 2013
This rather long update shows the following:
(1) Where is the WA LOW
(2) Where will it move in the short term
(3) What do the models have it doing in the long term?
And yep, all of that took 22 minutes
Overall there is still a significant risk of a coastal crossing of a Severe Category 3-5 system on the Pilbara coastline or west Kimberley coastline mid next week. So if you live in that region, please ensure your cyclone kits are ready.

CYCLONE VIDEO UPDATE
FEBRUARY 24th 2013
VIDEO ONE
This video DOES NOT DEAL WITH TC RUSTY
This video looks at two other LOWS near Australia. The first one could form into a tropical cyclone south of Cocos Island giving the island a very strong dose of 30-40 knot NW monsoonal winds and some heavy rain. The second is likely to form in the Coral Sea and drift eastwards. The Coral Sea system is not expected to affect Queensland and should continue drifting to the East or South East due to upper troughing.
Longer term as March progresses, we expect the Gulf Of Carpentaria could fire.

CYCLONE VIDEO UPDATE
FEBRUARY 24th 2013
VIDEO TWO
We take a look at Rusty, where he is what he looks like and where he is expected to go and how strong he is expected to be when he gets there. It takes 22 minutes but you should be left with a good idea of what's going on at least for the next 24-48 hours. After that it gets tricky
Stay tuned for our next update tomorrow. Hopefully tomorrow models will get a little more confident on the system's final approach to landfall.
Please remember if you wish to support us, please share our content with people who are interested in this stuff. or simply take a few seconds of your time to take a look at an advertisement that interest you.
OZ CYCLONE CHASERS
CYCLONE VIDEO UPDATE
FEBRUARY 25th 2013
We look in depth at Rusty's current structure. We take a look at the current steering flow and the expected steering flow that should have him drifting around aimlessly for a number of hours near the coast on Tuesday and Wednesday before deciding to make landfall. Now where he makes landfall and when he makes landfall is still quite tricky to predict.
The model guidance is pretty intent on stalling the cyclone and intensifying it just off the coast.
A reminder that if you lie East of the cyclone you will likely experience a storm surge in the onshore hurricane force northerly winds. There are massive tides of over 9m over the next few days so the storm surge is likely to create some problems on the foreshore since the cyclone sticks around for so long.
Rainfall is the final thing we discuss with 24 hour falls of over 300mm possible in places and cumulative falls of over 600mm possible from the event. That's more rain than most Pilbara locations get in a year.
Tomorrow we will have two updates - a short morning one and a longer evening update.
