Mission Statement
The mission of the Australian Severe Weather Association Inc. is to provide a platform for discussion in severe weather, research & education & to further our knowledge with regard to all areas of significant meteorology.
To accomplish this, the Association's objectives are:
(1) to provide media for all persons interested in aspects of severe weather for the publishing of letters, reports, and Web pages;
(2) to provide information, publications, materials, and seminars that will promote the forecasting, analysis & observations of, as well as education in aspects of severe weather and meteorology;
(3) to encourage a more detailed understanding of the risks to the community posed by severe weather in Australia;
(4) to educate & encourage those individuals wishing to discuss ideas or learn more about the various aspects of severe weather;
(5) to collect, evaluate, circulate & otherwise disseminate information regarding the nature of severe storms;
(6) to support local communities and the government by providing the Bureau of Meteorology with timely and accurate severe weather reports;
(7) to subscribe to or become associated with any other body whose objects are kindred to the objectives of the Australian Severe Weather Association Inc.;
(8) to benefit the public by providing further research into severe weather;
(9) to provide to its members a sense of community. This will enable people with common interests to share information and experiences so that we may be able to further increase our understanding of severe weather.
